I am certain that all of you share my concern for the thousands of residents in the Los Angeles area who have been affected by the wildfires. Many of our colleagues live in Southern California and may have been impacted by this devastating situation. My sincere condolences go out to all of those affected by the devastating fires. During these challenging times, I encourage all of you to reach out and check on our friends and colleagues in the area. For those of you who are in Los Angeles, please know that you are in our thoughts as you navigate this difficult journey.

New Chair of Neurology
Diana Greene-Chandos, MD was appointed Chair of Neurology at Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Medicine and SLU Care in 2024. Dr. Greene-Chandros is an accomplished clinical neurologist with special expertise in neurocritical care and stroke. She completed residency at Washington University in St. Louis and a neurocritical care fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. She served as Chair of Women in Neurocritical Care Society for three years. She has served in many other leadership roles in the Neurocritical Care Society and the American Academy of Neurology. She is well published and is a frequent invited speaker nationally and internationally on various topics, especially those related to neurocritical care and stroke. We would like to congratulate her on this appointment and welcome her to participate in the activities of the AUPN!

Leadership Minute
This month’s Leadership Minute is entitled, “Multitasking for the Neurology Leader: Keeping All the Balls in the Air”. The moderator is Dr. Alissa Willis of the Cleveland Clinic, and the Speaker is Dr. Jayant N. Acharya of Southern Illinois University. In this leadership minute, Dr. Acharya provides advice on how individuals can successfully complete their myriad of tasks and still maintain a healthy work-life balance. This is important information for all faculty, but it is especially useful for leaders of departments, sections, and academic programs.

AUPN has a partnership with the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) to offer enriching educational sessions at the AAN Annual Meeting. As part of this partnership, AUPN co-hosts three educational sessions alongside the AAN programming, providing attendees with valuable insights and updates on various neurology topics. These sessions are included with the registration fee for the AAN Annual Meeting.

ANA Awards Call for Nominations is Now Open
The American Neurological Association (ANA) is currently accepting nominations for awards to be presented at ANA2025, the 150th Annual Meeting of the ANA being held September 13-16, 2025, in Baltimore. If you have been wondering how to pay tribute to an individual's contribution to the field of neurology, consider nominating them for a prestigious ANA Award! Nominations will be accepted until Monday, February 17, 2025.
ANA Awards Nominations are now open and offer an exciting way to celebrate the accomplishments of academic neurologists and neuroscientists in a wide range of areas. Self-nominations are also encouraged and accepted.
Recognize the hard work and dedication of a colleague, student or peer’s tireless effort by nominating her/him for an ANA Award. The following ANA Awards will be presented at ANA2025:
